Bash is the shell, the cmd, the terminal, you need administrator priveleges to do anything, is no enough to get acces to it, you could launch it but you still need to be root in order to gain control of the system, so if your system doesn't have a root password . . . you deserve whatever happens to you 

Also in Linux the time elapsed beteween discovering a security risk and the development and launching of the patch to fix it is sometimes no longer than two hours, although it could take more deppending on the dificulty to patch it.

Don't know about Mac but on windows you are lucky if a third party (Antivirus, etc.) does something about it in a short period of time, here numbers count and there are thousands of people contributing to linux development.

You are right about the windows and the time frame for the AV to do F all about it in a timely manner.

However read the article, if it was of no concern why does the RedHat guy mention it could be catastrophic.......and worse than end times

Hey I never said Linux was more secure, I've in fact argued quite the opposite before just not the on the forums. Linux is not flawless and more prone to security issues because of the lack of consistency between applications and shells, window managers, and other software built on top of the kernel given a particular distribution. A flaw in any one of these underlying components can proliferate issues in other layers and obviously makes Linux as a whole less secure in that regard or well more prone to be less secure. However, the source code is available, making it easily accessible for anyone to contribute a patch or a fix or for anyone to know how secure their application is before they use it. Sudo is a shoddy User Account Control it was just there first, no OS or machine is ever going to be completely flawless, after all machines are built by man and man is not flawless, therefore machines are not flawless. Take Chinese chopsticks, on the one hand I have no practical use for them and on the other hand the Asian-Pacific region can't live without them.

Red Hat is one of the few companies making money out of selling services for linux machines, in short what he is saying is: you need us to be safe, buy our services. This doesn't mean the flaw is not dangerous it could well be but it wont be there for much time, now if some manufacturer doesnt update/upgrade the OS of their product, or allow its clients to do so easily then the fault and the flaw is not on linux side but on that bussines way of doing bussines.

Any way smart houses? how many are there? Hell how many smart buildings are there? If the people in charge dont apply the patch when it comes it's their fault, if they don't know how they should have retained the services of someone who does or never bought a smart house.
