PIT² is a platform game I'm currently developing under ENIGMA.

I released a little preview of the game.
It's in a very early state, but it's playable.

You can download it here.

You can also see screenshots of how it progresses over time.

May 3: The very first tileset I ever made, some spriting and the basics of gameplay coding.

May 4: Set my color palette to Atari. GIMP simplifies a bit my job, since it helps a lot with auto-dithering.

May 9: Done loads of research, worked on my school side, and then came back to this. I'll be working on a Sega Mega Drive/Genesis ambient: 320x224 screen, using a 512 colors palette, with a 64 screen color limit (I don't know if I'll be able to accomplish that limit thing), and 50fps (there's no real reason for this framerate, I simply like it). Also, made a new gradient, nearly from scratch. I put real effort on it and took great amounts of time, but it came out good enough to my likings! Also, incomplete new tileset because the old was too hard to draw and keep track on its color count without looking terribad.

May 13: Not something to show, but to say. Yesterday and today I've been working, arranging the first game obstacles and gimmicks (which are basic power-ups).

May 18: First public release. It's a very basic game, but it's progressing and I think I'll get something good out of it. Worked out a signboards system to help understand the gameplay.

May 20: Messed up some more with coding and got a new object working, finally: platforms.

Cool beans, it looks like you got a day-night cycle going on. Any plans on a release? Also, you can post a pic in the Upcoming Games topic.

I think it was Leonardo da Vinci who once said something along the lines of "If you build the robots, they will make games." or something to that effect.

Indeed; it'll be a freeware game. And it's not a day-night cycle; it's just me playing with the backgrounds for different stages.

I knew about that thread and I'd replied, but I got a little selfish; I wanted my own thread already xP
Don't worry, though, since I WILL release some show-off executables when I feel it to be playable enough.

There was a nice demo I saw for GMS when they introduced shaders and in the demo was a day/night cycle manipulation using shaders. Amazing stuff if you know shader language.  Don't know if this is functional yet in ENIGMA.

BTW I like the dark blue version, :)

GIMP is a great friend. It really comes in handy to everything. Except for DITHERING :/
Game's first test release may take from here to the next Friday!
No sooner, because I'm not working in the weekend, but taking a break and playing other videogames :P

I like GIMP but I can't break myself from using Paint.NET :/ Even though PDN is pretty laggy.

You can find the link in the OP and here, too!

In addition, thanks to everyone who has helped me around these forums so far <3

The difficulty is very steep in this one. :D
I couldn't get past the second level with spikes in about 20 tries.
Also, you should try to limit level with green powerups, because in that same second level I tried flying to the stars. So I jumped out of the level and unless you want to make that an easter egg, I suggest making some barriers that removes the powerup or create invisible wall around the level. But keeping these things in are also often fun.

Oh, I didn't think it would be THAT hard, but I'm not fit for a judge since I've finished Super Meat Boy at 106% and I Wanna be the Guy in Hard mode. I don't know if I will keep it that way.
Old platform games weren't very easy in this side either.

That's something I noticed but at the moment I just didn't feel like fixing.
I'll think about it.

Thanks for your feedback! :)
