This will be the first 3D game I make:

Off-Topic / Religious wars in the programming community
« on: July 17, 2014, 12:46:30 PM »
It's funny how the religious fervor is redirected among the community.

There is an inversely proportional correlation between how much have you studied and the grade of religious belief you have:

The more you stay in school the less prone to religious belief you are, and yet...

I beleive in FPC, him believes in C++, that one believes in C#, that other in java, and so on.

The same goes for libraries, wxwidgets people vs QT people, SDL vs SFML vs Allegro, etc.

Not to speack about Operating Systems, here truly the blood can reach the river, and is a free for all war, with the only exeption when you are confronted with people really outside the family : Windows vs Linux vs OsX, but among the Linux community there is no peace.

It's everybody against everybody else, Distro vs Distro, Desktop vs Desktop, Developing method and software are right there too.

Could it be only that, we, as a species, are prone to violence against those outside our group?

Programming Help / Make sprite run through a loop (like sonic)
« on: July 17, 2014, 12:21:35 PM »
Already went to google for some help but I cant seem to find anything (maybe my search is faulty).  :ohdear:

The goal is to make a character/sprite run on a surface that loops without the character falling if it has the right speed, I suposse it would have to be done by a mathematical formula in the script.  :o

Trouble is to find said formula and then to adapt it to the script. I only find references to a logical loop and that is not what I need and besides I already know how they work.  :)

Third Party / Sprite/Map Editor Almost Done!
« on: June 26, 2014, 02:01:27 PM »
Just to communicate you that my Sprite/Map Editor is mere days from entering the testing phase (by me), then Ill be ready to make an alpha release for further testing.

It's suposed to be a part of the IDE I'm still developing for enigma, although this part is 2D oriented only.  :D

If you'd like to participate in the testing feel free to ask me in this same thread, for the moment (until someone sees fit to donate me a Mac) only Linux and windows 32Byte versions will be released.

Off-Topic / LateralGM ported to CPP
« on: June 24, 2014, 02:48:21 PM »
Just that, a few minutes ago I took the code of LateralGM and used Tangible Software Solutions Java to C++ Converter and now everything is in CPP.

Now I "only" need to learn enough C++ to complete the conversion.

Off-Topic / Sound Editor (MIDI)
« on: June 21, 2014, 02:43:02 PM »
How useful do you think it would be to have such option in a game making environment?

I ask because I'm stuck with my IDE (Code name: ENYGMA), trying to include such functionality in it, and can't make it work.

Programming Help / EDL & ENIGMA functions, syntax etc.

Is there somewhere I should look for this?

It's not in the wiki, and I can't find it in the forum.

General ENIGMA / ENIGMA on Sourceforge
« on: May 31, 2014, 06:25:45 PM »
Just wondering why the last commit to sourceforge was on 2011?

Since one of the problems of ENIGMA/LateralGM is lack of developers... Shouldn't there be a strong presence in this sites?

Just a thought of course.

Proposals / Easy Cross-compiling?
« on: May 25, 2014, 09:33:37 AM »
Since ENIGMA parses EDL to C++ and you can even use C++ to program your game...

I was thinking if it wouldn't be possible to pass that C++ code to GCC in order to compile it?

This way if you want to compile for a different platform you only choose it from a dropdown menu, ENIGMA takes the instructions atached to that option and your code and passes it to GCC who does the actual compiling.

General ENIGMA / Ubuntu PPA
« on: May 24, 2014, 06:32:08 PM »
Anyone knows what must be removed or added(If anything) from the git download in order to upload Enigma-LGM to launchpad and create a PPA repository?

Issues Help Desk / Linux GMFormatException SOLVED
« on: May 24, 2014, 04:10:50 PM »
Downloaded yet again from git

Got rid of every single folder related to the old enigma, including .enigma

Compiled, corrected the gcc.ey file, created the bash launcher file, started a game, loaded a single sprite in png format, told enigma to create a folder and saved the project, so far so good but...

When trying to open the project enigma created I get the error:

org.lateralgm.file.GmFormatException: java.lang.NullPointerException: null
   at org.lateralgm.file.GMXFileReader.readProjectFile(
   at org.lateralgm.file.GMXFileReader.readProjectFile(
   at org.lateralgm.main.FileChooser$
   at org.lateralgm.main.FileChooser$

Latest Enigma-LGM from git
Latest JDK and JRE
LinuxMint 15 (Ubuntu Raring) cinnamon desktop

Any Ideas?

Issues Help Desk / Linux 32 bits error saving a game (SOLVED)

Well just that when I finally got the time and started to work through some tutorial, load a bunch of sprites and decide to save the work done so far, Enigma throws this error:

Found nothing in google or the forum.
