I just tried it and I hate their IDE. Honestly, their IDE looks and feels very bare bones. Mine is a better text editor right now.

Third Party / Re: CLI and new IDE for Enigma
September 18, 2013, 01:05:37 PMQuote from: x on September 18, 2013, 05:17:42 AMIt would be more efficient. I keep asking them everyday to help me with mine, as mine has been written with Josh's ideas in mind.
Looking good. I like the code folding!
I like the idea of ENIGMA supporting a host of IDEs, but wouldn't it be more efficient if all the IDE developing effort went into making one really awesome IDE?

As far as I know, variants in ENIGMA already use unions. I was unaware that unions occupy the same physical space. I'm going to use them more often now.

Function Peer Review / Re: Yoyogames Example in Enigma

YoYo Games fully removed mplay_* functions in recent GameMaker editions. We shouldn't be supporting it either, as it was never even recommended in GameMaker either.

Metro cannot be disabled. The start button simply starts metro.
As for their improvements, they're things that should have been done long ago. For example, when Windows 8 came out, they talked about how they improved their boot times by caching. This seems very trivial. I thought they already did this before, but apparently they didn't. It's because Windows is commercial. They need to add the least amount of features possible (but enough so that people care) to make more money.

Windows 8.1 is actually a reason for me to move to Windows 8. At least it will have a start button. Until that is in I will stay with Windows 7.

I feel like it's the reveal of Windows 8.1 that caused these people to move on. I'm going to make a move soon too.

September 08, 2013, 04:04:44 PMQuote from: daz on September 08, 2013, 03:39:06 PMI don't know the exact details. A few people made the discovery by extracting GM's HTML5 source, but YYG was quick to C&D the website that released it.
That's interesting, so it puts like a hash of your license or something in the compiled applications?

YYG cheated in their commercial games. To make their own games faster and better, they made functions for GM specifically for their games and, of course, locked those functions out of GM. Legally, "made with GM" is correct, but morally, everyone knows it's just plain wrong.
There is also a whole bunch of crap that very very few people know what YYG inputs into your games too. YYG puts analytics into your games. They know who compiled it and whose playing it. I know that they have this in their HTML5 port. I recall seeing a message earlier that YYG knows if you cracked GM or not. I see this as a problem for people who obtained the application legally. I don't want that to be in my games.
And finally, the part about YYG not listening to anyone. They barely fix any bugs. They do nothing to improve the customer experience. They just add more exports and such so more people spend more money. I filed a surface bug report last year, still not fixed. I had to quit my game. Compare that to ENIGMA, who fixes everything rapidly.

Both of you need the chill pill. No one is an idiot and no one is brain-dead. They were simple mistakes that were all YYG's fault. Now let's move on.

Actually, the Tizen is free for everyone. You can even download a special Tizen version that comes with all Professional features (except exporting to anything other than Tizen...). As far as I know, it took them 0 effort to add Tizen support. As far as I know, Tizen is just Android.

As far as I know, it's been discontinued. However, with Josh's new WIP compiler, he added Pretty-Print which should make porting easier.
