Issues Help Desk / Debian Package Creation
« on: May 15, 2017, 04:29:28 PM »
Has anyone made a debian package installer (*.deb) for an ENIGMA game before? What is required to do such a task? I've googled many results on how to do it, but they're all really complex and it's like greek to me attempting to comprehend it.

Is it as simple as creating and running a single shell script (*.sh)?

17
Even when I log out I still see [u524] in the title of all my tickets. Is that just my user id? Why am I the only account that seems to have this?

18
What are all the required packages, (for the end user / gamer), that must be installed from the terminal in order to run a pre-built ENIGMA game on Linux, specifically for Ubuntu? (...or would it be the same regardless of the Linux distrobution?)

Thanks!

Issues Help Desk / CLI on Ubuntu?
« on: April 27, 2017, 08:14:37 PM »
Hey can anyone tell me how to compile a game with ENIGMA on Ubuntu using the CLI instead of using LGM? I ask because LGM crashes on my Ubuntu machine when I try to run/build, so I was hoping the CLI wouldn't do that. My computer's a dual boot with Windows via Wubi so there isn't much file/memory space on the Ubuntu side of things. Anyway that's probably why it's crashing. On Windows LGM doesn't crash using the same project file, so it's clear to me the issue is related to free disk space and Java, afaik...

Thanks.

General ENIGMA / Fun Fact: ENIGMA Can Make Windows Screen Savers
« on: April 17, 2017, 05:14:37 PM »
Interesting, just like GameMaker, ENIGMA can create screen savers for Windows.

Simply save your executable as a *.scr instead of an *.exe, or rename an existing ENIGMA game *.exe file extension to *.scr.

Which is cool, because not all *.exe files can be made into working screen savers.

Anyways, now you know.  :smileycat:

Third Party / Gmrename - Global Renaming Tool For Gm:S Projects
« on: March 15, 2016, 12:48:34 PM »
Quote
GMRename (Suggested by Samuel Venable)

Global Rename tool for GameMaker: Studio projects.

This tool can replace obj names, script names, sound names, sprites and variables throughout a project.

Example 1: Rename obj_a to obj_b
The tool will replace all occurrences of obj_a with obj_b. This includes the object name, object codes, scripts.

Example 2: Rename var_variable to var_roytheshort
Replaces all occurrences of the variable name with the new name.

NOTE! I did not have time to extensively test this. Please BACK UP your project folder, and use at your own risk. If something goes wrong, either revert to your backup or reverse the find+replace.

If you find a bug, please let me know either on this topic or PM me.

Donations let me keep developing tools like this, for free.

Didn't know about this until long after I was banned, but hey! At least someone did it...

From Slammin Sam's original topic:
http://gmc.yoyogames.com/index.php?showtopic=621186

Really useful for combining multiple projects that may have variable or resource name conflicts.

Works in Progress / Flappy Wheels
« on: September 13, 2015, 09:43:00 PM »
Completed a new game recently, but ill post about that elsewhere when its live on anazon and the ouya discover menu.

Anyways, tried a crack at porting it to html5 and it was quite lovely to see it worked after several little inconsistency tweaks it had between the windows and android versions.

it was so lovely i published it on facebook:
https://apps.facebook.com/flappy-wheels/

did i mention the game is 3D? and runs faster than it does on my ouya in the desktop internet browser. Im pretty impressed by all this. I like where its heading. :)

seeing as its been a very long time since i last could get a single html5 port done flawlessly, pretty refreshed.
