General ENIGMA / Re: ENIGMA: Studio
May 30, 2016, 11:39:36 AMQuote from: Josh @ Dreamland on May 28, 2016, 02:25:10 AMIt almost still looks like 'ENIGMA' when it's upside down.
Personally, I'm a fan of the current logo. Wouldn't change it. As for a banner, I'd prefer something that makes a bigger statement; something playful, but interesting.
I threw this together as an example:![]()
Try hovering over it with your mouse.
The coloring's definitely off, and the shapes are off, but that's basically what I'm looking at.

General ENIGMA / Re: What do you want?

1. Faster compile time - without a doubt one of the biggest thing holding things back
2. Regression testing - been promised a few times but nobody delivered on it yet but it's vitally important
3. Debugging - It's still not at all friendly to debug games
Beyond that the compiler is obviously holding things back, which it has been for years on end.

If I had the money right now I would just pay developers to finish these things the way we want them fixed.

General ENIGMA / Re: ENIGMA progress

Well it's pretty clear that a general development of ENIGMA is dead. I think ENIGMA will stand now solely as something the odd developer may come across and find useful and as such wish to contribute to purely for their personal benefit of wanted functionality. This is how many a developer has been so far anyway. So there is no issue really with ExDeus or any other dev branching and progressing it how they wish, I would be very surprised if anybody joins in and helps with such a branch off though but you never know.

General ENIGMA / Re: First Impressions Of ENIGMA

I think the problem has become that ENIGMA is more a branch off Game Maker from 10 years ago at GM6. Now GM has been moving on in an increasingly different direction and functionality to those days and it's user base along with it (no matter if this direction has made the product worse or not). Technology is also ever increasingly shifting to mobile platforms which ENIGMA is yet to dwelve into.
Thus ENIGMA will become less and less appealing to a younger user base over time so as ENIGMA's existing dev base becomes older and more of them move on into other things (which is a natural progression) there will not be a sustainable amount of new devs coming here to fill in the void of these losses.

How many people are actually developing still or planning on developing again after some other commitment? Things seem rather dead on the forum and in the repo...

General ENIGMA / First Impressions Of ENIGMA

Perhaps we could get some feedback from any newer people here, what were the impressions you got when you first came here and initially ran ENIGMA and started to use it? What are the problems you most frequently run into with ENIGMA?

Seems to me though that the problems and bugs seem to be piling up, there's some years old now. So instead of adding more and more additional systems and producing more bugs in those so I would advice halting further functional progress and going through a thorough extermination process, vastly improving ENIGMA's error reporting and DEBUG functionality and finally getting around to setting up a build bot system that checks for regressions in new commits.

Newest LGM continues to freeze when "Run" is pressed. No errors or anything. Just freezes.

November 06, 2014, 01:07:24 PMQuote from: TheExDeus on November 06, 2014, 12:39:27 PMI've been that freeze too (it's maybe when trying to compile too quickly?) and also had the segfault several times when compiling - I pasted into IRC the log of the terminal when it segfaults but I've forgotten where it was now, perhaps Josh remembers.
I have a bug that LGM sometimes freezes when I press the green compile button. Usually I can compile one time, then the second time it will freeze and stop. Other times it will freeze on the first try. Nothing gets written in the log. The only way to close LGM is to use task manager.
edit: It has also crashed once for me (the whole Java runtime), but it doesn't seem print any errors anywhere. So it has gotten a lot more unstable for me too.

Is that a 'no' on moving it below the resource tree then?

I think it might look a lot better below the resource tree instead of above it.

What have you done to the movement? The movement and jumping speed seem limited and the gravity seems off now. There isn't enough momentum to make it up slopes properly and more.

Robert those screenshots show the search box in a completely different location to where it currently is in LGM? LGM is in need of a tab bar, and it should then be put on that ideally. In my opinion of course
