General ENIGMA / Re: Enigma games uniquely identifiable?
« on: November 12, 2008, 04:57:07 PM »
Did you read my entire post?  What I'm saying is that there is no way to distinguish ENIGMA games from any other EXE.  While you could search the entire EXE for any string that says "ENIGMA" (since I do believe that all of ENIGMA's variables have "ENIGMA" before it, like ENIGMAsystem), that would not be very efficient.

ENIGMA games are not like Game Maker's.  It's simply GML (or should I say EDL) parsed into C++ and compiled.  Adding instant play functionality with ENIGMA's games would be like adding instant play functionality with any EXE.

You can do Includes in the cpp{...} function?!
Umm, duh.  All cpp {} does is take the code and insert it before the compile; it doesn't parse anything.

And mb_ok == 0...mb_ok/mb_ok...
DIVIDE BY ZERO.

Now, now.  You know that's not nice.  Stop it or I'm going to beat you with a rather large stick.

Here's an alternate for show_message():
Code: [Select]
cpp { #include <windows.h>
MessageBox(argument0,"Message",MB_OKAY); }

Put it in the game/room start event of something, then it'll be at the top of the code.

Why not just use sprites like a sane person?  They look better anyways.

What about cpp <{ }>?

What about [cpp][/cpp]?

General ENIGMA / Alternate to cpp {}

Wouldn't it be better to make the cpp {} statement into something like cpp <>?  For example, I could not do something like this:
cpp {
if (somecode)
 {
}

ENIGMA_function();

cpp {
}
}

While I could like this:
cpp <
if (somecode)
 {
>

ENIGMA_function();

cpp <
}

Just a suggestion.  This is used in PHP very often, and I think ENIGMA's C++ should act the same way.

I didn't know C++ when I made this.

You could just do what Game Maker does, and include 64 arguments and just not require all of them somehow.

And who might that be, so I can pester them?

Yeah, but they don't work with all types.  Although if you include the script with the var structure in it before the scripts, you could use var and do it for all types.
