General ENIGMA / Re: few questions and an offer

I.  Don't.  Care.

I spell it as grey, too.  But I really don't think that it makes a difference.

It's spelt "gray" in USA. Mr Cracker would say "grey," though.
"Grey" or "gray;" nobody cares.  It works for both.

Ideas and Design / Re: Replacing Plugin Workdir (and possibly LGM's)
« on: June 16, 2011, 08:44:04 PM »
The #java folks vaguely hinted at the fact that for Windows I should also have some kind of generic home directory for settings (similar to ~/.lateralgm, but for Windows), but I haven't been able to figure out how to achieve this in a cross-platform manner.
It's AppData/Roaming in Windows 7.  I dunno how to do it in Java.

Based upon a proposal in the IRC:
- ENIGMA's workdir will remain the same for now, but LGM's will also search ~/.lateralgm.  This will allow linux users to add plug-ins and libs to LGM without having to mess with root permissions if the directory is write-protected.

Issues Help Desk / Re: MySQL - constant connection
« on: June 01, 2011, 08:32:10 PM »
The usual approach is to open it and store the handle, then use that:
Code: [Select]
$conn = mysql_connect($server, $user, $pass);
mysql_query($query, $conn);

If you happened to notice, I was the one maintaining that package.  I was in the progress of getting repos set up when I became really busy.

The AUR still has PKGBUILDs, and I encourage the use of those for now on Arch.  Everyone else can just use the SVN for now.

The idea was going to be that /usr/share/java/lateralgm will hold ENIGMA and the Java plugins, while /opt/enigma stores ENIGMA's stuff.

Curious, is all.  I'm going to do this primarily to see what packages that I need to make, even though I'm going to be making Ubuntu, Arch, and Fedora packages.

Posting to say that the Ubuntu packages are temporarily broken.  I'm going to work on getting an actual build script for them through a VM.  This means that I'm also going to work on an RPM, eventually.

"Plugging it in" would probably mean adding stuff to ENIGMAsystem/SHELL/*_System(s) and Compilers.  Look in these and you'll find files for each of the not-so-modular systems and the compilers that will be selectable in LGM when modified properly.

I'm assuming that, eventually, if you show up with a pile of code to add to ENIGMA, you'll probably just be given commit access.

Issues Help Desk / Re: Error: Invalid search directories returned

That's an insane hack. I'm not going to assume that bash.exe is a magical program that can make calls ENIGMA.exe cannot.
Sorry; I didn't know that ENIGMA was its own shell.

I said that it was a temporary hack.  I also told you that setting the LC_ALL variable will work in Windows.  You have not tried doing so, and because you are so ignorant that you will not try to make anything work, I'm providing a temporary solution that will work for now.

I've told JoshDreamland how to fix it and it hasn't worked yet.

As a temporary fix, you can create a file named ENIGMA.bat in the same dir as ENIGMA.exe and put the following contents in it:
(directory-of-MinGW)/msys/1.0/bin/bash.exe -c "LC_ALL=C ENIGMA.exe"

Then double-click the .bat and it should work.

Haven't tested it, but it should work in theory.

P.S. Thought I'd mention, in case you haven't noticed, that your "Ich bin ein Berliner" sentence at the bottom of the page translates to "I am a donut".
It was originally said by a US president (John F Kennedy, I think) in Germany, which is why it was used. :P

Why doesn't LGM support backing files up before saving like GM does?
