You guys are looking at this too objectively. Its really quite simple. Now Apple have reached a significant market share, they want to hamper development for alternative platforms by stopping any kind of portability. They want development to be either for them, or for anything else. Its up to the users to decide which, and we all know that mainstream consumers who can't see past the shiny hardware and easy interface aren't going to know any better. It was never about quality of apps or anything, they could already reject anything they wanted from the app store. Now they are just attacking competition, with the added bonus of greater control over their future by removing the influence of Adobe's products.
The question is, how will it be enforced? I reckon ENIGMA is going to be among many things that they can't do anything about. Personally I like the idea of iphone development with ENIGMA, but I wouldn't lose any sleep over vendor lock-in. Its nothing new.
