Title: Compile to Android Work around
Post by: ericbomb on February 11, 2014, 11:11:13 AM
So some of you may remember me from the IRC channel. I was always going on about how I wanted to port to OUYA, which is android based.

Unless a massive update happened when I wasn't looking it's still not easily possible. But me and a friend from OUYAforum.com came up with a solution.

Said solution is being held hostage :) The terms of the release mainly being you promise to put the APK onto the OUYA store(where you can make money). Our IRC channel is #whouya, look for either Ironshell (me) or Eldon. Or hit me up on ouyafourm.com http://ouyaforum.com/member.php?5655-Eric-Blackburn (http://ouyaforum.com/member.php?5655-Eric-Blackburn)

Anyway hope you don't mind me holding info hostage, us OUYA folks are just that crazy :D

(kinda have to be crazy to support the silly console)

Embedded devices (OUYA technically is one) require GLES - We still don't support GLES (although we are close with the whole GL3 changes). So no real workaround.

If you kids want to port to android don't use this shit, go use oher shit like gaymaker studio masterbator's collection.

at the development's snail pace by the time you get the option to export to android, it will be long gone and forgotten (obsolete).

You can't handle the truth say so!

The fag Cheeseboy might have a point about this senile project after all or what,
we grew on the same land and fondled the same cattle.

settle the fuck down lads, you all truly suck and you need people to remind you that's all.

There are many other issues and things to fix before they could add android support.
Fix things before building new ones, remember this is not YoYoGames, break things, leave them aside, build things that breaks once working and finally remove what was working instead of fixing.  That's what you get for paid 3 digit software :P

You know, I could port and test your game for OUYA, send you the APK, you could upload and publish it on the OUYA store, and I would do it for free and I don't require you crediting me. :P So if you need anything just ask, I like helping people and care more about that than being selfish and only helping myself. Your game needs to work in GMStudio with little or no modifications before I will consider it, however.

PS: Currently I don't want to help you port if it means use of IAPs, because while it's technically possible with GMStudio, it requires hacking their android runner which I'm sure YYG doesn't approve of, though they have tolerated this being discussed on the GMC for whatever reason ( http://gmc.yoyogames.com/index.php?showtopic=570978& ). To be on the safe side, I'd rather wait until YYG implement the OUYA IAP system natively themselves, directly into GMStudio.

Thanks a lot.  I'm like that too, helping people, I know what you mean.

As long as it's legal and you won't get into trouble from YYG or I won't get in trouble.
I recall you telling me that they are ok with it.

As far as crediting I think it is the least one can do and have no problem with it.

In my games I will include in the credits:

"Thanks to the ENIGMA team for saving me from robbery"

:D

It doesn't matter what YYG's thinks as far as that goes, the law where they're based says otherwise and reverse engineering is allowed to a limited extent for portability.

@Robert: that's a great point actually, because what I mean by 'hacking' isn't even reverse engeneering . The entire source to the android runner afaik is in Studio's AppData directory.  What they did was modify the given code to add OUYA IAP functions. When you build the project, the android SDK simply compiles the code from that directory. Since they practically give us a portion of their runner's code, I wonder how people don't just steal their technology and rewrite it with new variable names, making it look more convincing in other ways, etc

It's probably already happening, I have no idea how people make cracks for software or w/e or specifically the one for master. But yeah, it's probably better they don't bother wasting their time with it, hell even Java has security flaws, and you can torrent Windows 8 right now too along with a fuckton of other software. I usually torrent old PC games.

They make crack for software by understanding the flawed DRM companies used - to some point I think some companies want this to happen, pretend they give a flying shit but really they know their shit will be pirated and know that not all piracy is a missed sale in fact most isn't, but it is publicity some companies look for as there are cases where they convert....Although honestly I  doubt anybody would convert to their shitty software anyway.
Did you follow all the topics on GM 1.3 ? They added a feature enabled by default now causing alleged significant slowdown to android and ios ports as reported on their forum...seems the more shit they add the more they break then you never hear from them again....

ALL software can be cracked I mean if they can crack hardware dongles they can crack some lame attempt at the DRM YYG uses, the same one that fucked many legit paying customers in the ass as you know....

Although to be honest I have to ask myself why the HELL would anybody even bother cracking GM MASTER collection.

As far as Windows being pirated.....it has always been and always will and M$ wants it to be.......Sometimes I think companies purposely leave flaws / cracks in their software for whatever reason.
