Issues Help Desk / Re: Compile enigma on ClockworkPI GameShell
« on: August 20, 2019, 06:31:22 am »
Greetings!

Progress has been a bit disappointing when compiling ENIGMA. The errors i've encountered has to do with google protobuffers and libpugxml which are essential to building the compiler. The IDE LGM, loads up fine. I will continue to look into it.

I installed Raspbian Desktop onto a laptop and that is what i am using to test. The Laptop is a HP Pavillion dv6-321 with an AMD CPU, 6GB of DDR3 Ram and a 120GB SATA Hard drive. The OS is Debian 9. I've gotten Windows 32bit software to run, including Gamemaker 8 Pro and other games/projects compiled with ENIGMA.

So there you have it. Sorry its not good news but rest assured, I will continue to work on it.

Greetings!

I've been able to install a Raspberry PI emulator on my Windows machine, but I've not been able to go any further yet.

I was thinking that if it is possible to have WINE or something similar to run Windows games, then it would be matter of compiling them as Windows .exe. As of the moment ENIGMA doesn't compile to ARM. I've been assured that 'it isn't that difficult to do' but time has me constrained for now. However, I do intend to look into it next week.

Greetings!

Unfortunately, I do get those as well.

There is a script at the root of 'enigma-dev' directory named "share_logs.sh" that will solve this........if you mind doing the extra work. As i understand it, you run the script in a terminal/shell window and it will strip those extra characters and create a pastebin file for you.

You can also use 'gdb' to debug your errors. Run the game in debug mode. Copy the name of resulting file....for example "/tmp/emg23453464548765342768.tmp" if you are running Linux;............. "C:/msys32/tmp/egm8652499151924152154.exe"...if you running Windows.
Open a Terminal window. (on windows open a Msys Shell Terminal, not a Powershell)
At the prompt, type gdb[ name of file you copied].
then type  'run'.

There you have it. You can use either of the two methods to debug your game. I personally have opted for the tedious method of looking through the output and figuring out where i made an error. This is only because i am meticulously saving the slightest change, so it is easier for me to know where i went wrong. :) :)

Hope this has 'helped' you out a bit. You can find on the discord channel. Or if you prefer, contact me here for anything else.

Greetings!

i've looked at your post with interest and is looking into your issue. In writing this,  i have downloaded a Raspberry PI emulator on my Windows 8.1 PC and is looking setup ENIGMA.  Bearing that Raspberry OS is debian based, the Linux installer method indicated in the WIKI should work.

I've also taken a look at the GameShell console. I'm impressed as far as first impressions go. Based on the specs I've seen advertised, it has Linux 4.1 Kernal. Don't know if it is possible to do, but you may have to install a desktop environment like LXDE, MATE, DEBIAN etc, if there is not one already installed.  Then it should be viable to install ENIGMA.

I'll continue to look into this, so be on the look out for updates.

Finished Games / Unravel......A sliding puzzle game
« on: July 22, 2019, 08:56:05 pm »

Unravel is a puzzle game where you move blocks around to clear a path for the gem block to reach its goal. upon reaching that goal you collect gems while escaping the puzzle board. There are 25 Levels in the Windows version. it is 32bit so it should be able to play on all Windows version as well on Linux and Mac as long as you have Wine on those platforms.

Those familiar with the popular game  'Unblocked me' will recognise it, as it is uses the same mechanics. However, unlike being restricted to only Windows OS, you have the option to play something similar on other platforms as well.

you can get the full game from the EDC.

watch the gameplay video from here.

hope you enjoy it. As usual....comment or make suggestions. Criticisms are also welcome.

Works in Progress / New Games in EDC Announcement
« on: July 04, 2019, 08:43:22 pm »
I have posted 2 new game demos in the EDC.

https://enigma-dev.org/edc/games.php?game=99

https://enigma-dev.org/edc/games.php?game=98

In previous posts i have talked about them before in the topics "Alien Brigade' and 'Sokoban Clone in Enigma'. Alien Brigade concept has been changed as well as its name. Plans for more complex formations, a story mode, boss fights and other features are being developed.

ABP (aka Amazing Box Puzzles) concept though it may be more similar to Sokoban, should not be considered as a clone. Traps and obstacles need to be overcome in order to solve the puzzle like in my game Mystery Mansion.......also in the EDC. There are also 3 modes of play, Standard, Scrolling and Landscape.....each with its own Select screen.

Works in Progress / Alien Brigade
« on: June 27, 2019, 11:17:57 am »

Another game I have in the works is a space arcade shooter named Alien Brigade.

i was feeling a little nostalgic for a game like those in the video game machines (aka Galaga comes to mind) and so I decided to do one.

As a works in progress, it only has about 15 levels, for now. i'm looking to extend that to around 50 or so. I also plan to include some attack patterns, more bosses and enemies. so be on the look out for more progress reports.

check out its video here on youtube.

Greetings all.

this is a progress report on my game. you can check it out here on youtube.

you have enemies to contend with and other various traps to avoid while solving the rooms.

it also has a Select screen, and my personal favorite, the ability for you to use your own music as background music in the game.
It's gotta be a .wav file though if you're using Windows. However Linux users will not a problem using .wav, and .mp3 though.

there are about 26 levels so far. I'm gonna release the full game soon with 50 levels.

Additionally, I'm planning to create a level editor where you can save your own levels and play them.

Works in Progress / Sokoban clone for Enigma
« on: June 14, 2019, 08:48:03 pm »
i am in the process of doing a Sokoban clone as another of my tutorial projects as well as a full game.

The full game will have a 'Select Level' screen utilizing one of my previous projects ......https://enigma-dev.org/edc/games.php?game=88

However, this will be slightly different. A thumbnail will represent each level which, makes coding for me easier to do. This involves taking a screenshot of each level, cropping it to a custom size of 96X96 pixels as a sprite, then simply duplicating that object and changing its sprite_index and room_index.

General ENIGMA / Enigma Games Showcase 2019
« on: June 13, 2019, 02:57:41 pm »
Enigma is great for creating games. It's faster than Gamemaker's compiler. It's interface is well designed and intuitive. Best of all, 85% of your Gamemaker projects will be compatible with it.

Some time ago, I did a video showcasing games, projects and the various things one can do with Enigma.

Since that time, improvements have been made and a lot of the problems fixed. I now present to you 'Enigma Games Showcase 2019'. where i present users indie games published by Enigma.

here's the link to the first Showcase video.

Here's the link to the 2nd Showcase video.
