This is part of my proposed idea for incorporating actions and events altogether in a single code editor editor. I am looking into other methods of doing this such as combining it with a collapsible tree widget. In this prototype the symbol margin stores the unique event identifier, so there is no need to macro. Right clicking on the symbol margin gives you a context menu to add an event node. Now I also had the idea we could just make the action list editor a dock widget and allow you to just close it if you dont want it and get my edit button like in the new LateralGM. Another idea of mine is to use a toolbox.. Now this last idea of mine involvse us writing our own custom widget for making collapsible areas, which I in fact what to do for other things like the scene editor anyway. I am still designing a few idea's yet, I would like everyone to discuss this and offer your own suggestions and proposals.

I think it was Leonardo da Vinci who once said something along the lines of "If you build the robots, they will make games." or something to that effect.

The buttons, action buttons, actions and events look horribly small, and the window looks huge or something.

I do still want my code to be a code box (or the possibility for it to be it), as I often times hold several action code boxes side by side. Like having the Create event code open while coding Draw just to see the variable names. But I like the idea of seeing the code for the event without opening the event. I guess that's the idea and the coding itself is still done in a separate box.
I was unaware that you could have two different code boxes open like that. It's not allowed in GM8, but now I can confirm that this is possible in GM Studio. We will definitely have splitting as a feature (you'll be able to split different or same resources together side by side). A clone feature is possible with it. As for it being a text box, it will be possible to toggle the events (between a control and plain text). Plain text will probably look something like this: #event(ev_create, 0) #action(code) yologames = true; #event(ev_step, 0) #action(code) if (yologames == true) { // Yolo. }
Right now, it looks like a blog of mess, but with code folding and highlighting, it will look like a beaut.

forthevin, yes, but not funny like you think, I did it because Josh likes to call everyone idiots while he argues with them in IRC, I try telling him that doesn't make polygonz any less moronic, it just makes him defiant but no this was my solution to just get them to stop bickering over its design ExDeus, very funny, HAHA

Ah, that makes sense . I am very much out of the loop in regards to the IRC, so there are some things I do not catch.

I don't call everyone idiots; just cheeseboy and polyfuck. Though I'm rethinking my policy.
