Not true. At first .Net was planned to be cross-plateform. C# is ok. Theres only three things I dislike about it:
1 - Part of .Net 2 - Does not use polymorphism, they say it causes confusion but I think its the programmers choice to use polymorphism. 3 - Slower than C++, I guess because of it's automatic GC
An Windows isn't bad just the company behind it. I used Windows all my. I've only used Linux ounce, can't remember which distro but I can't say I didn't like it. I just wasn't used to it and I found myself having to re-teach myself about my OS. But with C++ anything I can do on Windows more than likely I can do with Linux except use the *evil* D3D.
