I've always thought of it as "Extensible Non-Interpreted Game Maker Alternative", but that's just me.
(And yeah; GM is really bad - it compiles code into a horrible bloated format at load-time and then reads it at runtime in the slowest way possible - just an example, to call show_message(var); you need 176 bytes at the very minimum - and that's assuming the string is a NULL pointer).

Is a pointer to a function which returns an array (and, functions cannot).

Some shadier sites download a captcha from other sites to make their user register, or may distribute a program which does so (I remember this captcha-harvesting program
).

DLL/SO support would be very useful, and not only because on Linux most of a program resides in the SO files it links to.
It would, for example, allow you to use the Scintilla library without having to hack all the code into your project. It also means less compile time.
However, 39DLL is a piece of crap and I've even had people ask me how to load it in a C++ project. I have to explain every time that it's just Winsock API calls wrapped for Game Maker.

1MB can equal both 1048576 bytes and 1000000 bytes.
Not to be confused with 1Mib, "Mebibit", "Mega binary bit" = 1048576 bits

THIS... IS... ALL CAPS!

If you've reverse-engineered the Game Maker runner (i.e. DONE SOME DAMN RESEARCH) you'd have seen that the code is in fact insanely simple, and there are many restrictions that should not be there like fixed-size arrays (which makes the code yet easier to manage). The .LIB format is a testament to the collective lack of programming skill. Then I thought to myself, Well, it could be worse. I could end up working on Game Maker and being down 600,000 USD. BAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHA. </verbal abuse>Wow. Go run a community the size of YoyoGames, become acquainted with a bunch of code you've never seen before and port it to Mac, and do everything else YoyoGames has done, before you start laughing at them just because they're making proprietary software (not like yours is really open-source anyway) that they're actually designing themselves, you freetard.

« on: October 05, 2009, 11:02:09 am »GIMP works, although I'm not too fond of the right click being context menu.If you have a graphics tablet, it makes much more sense - one of the buttons on the side of the pen brings up the menu, while you flip the pen to use a different tool/colour combination.
Vista isn't bad, it only BSODs and requires a reinstall once a year. And the last time XP bluescreen'd was when my hard drive did some trippy power-cycle thing and nearly died. I didn't need to reinstall it.
Seriously though, Windows 7 is what you get when you give Microsoft back Windows Vista and tell them to finish programming it.
