« on: September 23, 2014, 01:05:04 pm »who cares. you're still smarter than me. I can tell just by talking with you. Congrats! I hope your future is bright and fluffy!
edit. thanks for the links btw, I don't want to go to college and I'm going to work at the shipyard hopefully so I'm good, but thanks though!
Thanks for the good wishes and the same to you
I don't know that I'm "smarter" than you, I do know that I'm dumbber than a lot of people, Stephen Hawkins for instance.
Whatever floats your boat man, if you're happy working in the shipyard then by all means do so, but don't discard a college education just because somebody told you that you were dumb, on the contrary go to college and shove your MBA up their asses (Followed by your fist, wrist and elbow ).

« on: September 22, 2014, 04:27:55 pm »Lucky.. I'm getting My GED (general education diploma for highschool dropouts) soon if all goes well, but that still isn't as good as your education.
That's exactly what I got, in a single exam I finished Highschool with a human resources administration thecnician degree atached to it, the university is a 4 year course.
If you want to pursue a college education you could go this way:
http://www.openuniversity.edu/
Or this way:
http://www.open.edu/openlearn/
Or this:
http://ocw.mit.edu/courses/find-by-department/
Or this:
http://online.stanford.edu/
The last three are free but give no acreditation while the first is not but it gives you a nice MBA

Thanks!
QuoteI'll be taking Mexico's Socioeconomic context, human development?, administration fundamentals, thought skills, bussines models, operation's research, organizational structure, strategic planning, economic engineering, investment proyects; besides the courses that are strictly related to software development:I would personally probably switch those two around, as the second list is a lot more technical, which is useful for CSE.
Operating systems, data bases (design, administration), statistic, discreet math, calculus, oo analisis and design, oop, design and architecture of software, OS programming, .net programming , networks, software development metrics, IT security, web programming, mobile programming, and some other course I might be leaving out.
I can't, the order is established by the University not by me.
EDIT: What in sam's hill is CSE? And I didn't put them in the order I'll be taking them, I sepparated the thechnical (programming) courses, and the other stuff.
If I remember correctly, EdS^2 is from Italy, so he probably has the same university definitions as me. I have high school (grade 10 to 12) and then collage is the more "professional education", but university is "academic education". So you can go to collages and places like that to learn how to weld, for example. You don't have to go to both. When you go to Uni, you have to study 3 years for bachelors (most cases) and 2 years for masters after that. Then 4 years for doctorate.
Nop Iḿ from México, yet the structure is similar although here there's no college per se, only schools where you can get a technical degree on electricity and such, then we have what you could call "higher technical college" but in reality is a 2-3 years course to get a professional degree for instance in software development (not sure if this is your bachelors degree, or if you can keep on studying to parlay it into a masters degree) that you take in the university, and then there are the "normal" university courses which talke around 4-6 years (These would be your masters degree, right?) and latter on you can get a doctorate.
From what I understand, here you have to take and aprove a full blown university course, then you take other courses to get your masters degree and then you take more courses to get a doctorate; so an average of 5 years for university plus whatever you need to get the masters plus the time needed to get the doctorate, I'm guessing about ten years in all.

« on: September 19, 2014, 08:45:40 pm »There is university at the undergraduate and postgraduate level.
Some countries like Canada call it College (meaning after high school) then University. You have to go through college to go to university in Canada.
Meaning you have to waste your time with senseless, retarded courses in college for years, you will probably never use, in order to access university later.
Might work different in other countries.
BTW congrats on your field of study.
Thanks DK2!
Here we have only higschool and then university but still half of your time in the university you take general courses common to most fields with only a little bit of stuff that's really pertaining your choosen field. But I don't think that's bad, it gives the student some general culture among other things.

I only hope they give us some other languages besides net java and javascript, C++ would be a welcome course, hell even C would be welcome; you can't programm an Operating System with Java or net languages, can you?

« on: September 19, 2014, 07:03:47 pm »Congrats! We still call some of our colleges universities. There's some distinction between the two, but it's fallen out of the public lexicon. But we say "college," not "uni." You go to college by attending a university.
Thanks!
Would the college be like an undergraduate level and the university to get a professional diploma?
You know kind of a technical professional vs an engineer, or am I getting it wrong?

A Highschool dropout anymore! Aced every subject but one so my final average grade was 9.85
So glad I could do it, now I'm taking the tests to get into the University (College for some of you) and become a Computer Systems Engineer

Proposals / Re: Extend LateralGM's room editor to be usable as a generic level editor
« on: September 14, 2014, 02:56:54 pm »Well, damn, I won't easily be able to run that Python one until I upgrade to Trisquel 7, so I'll have to hold off on adding the feature to that until then. (I could edit it without testing it, but especially considering my lack of familiarity with Qt, that seems likely to produce buggy results.)
You could try with a liveusb with persistence, just saying

« on: September 12, 2014, 07:47:15 pm »Oh, there's a Python one? I should do that, then! Where's it at?
Still, LateralGM supporting it would be nice.
The Full array of ENIGMA IDEs is here : http://enigma-dev.org/forums/index.php?topic=1476.0
Yes it would be great to have it in the main IDE but this way you can iron out any bugs that may intrude while integrating library to ide and then maybe someone will have done the same with LGM.
I'm interested in an alternate ide since I dislike java for some stuff and Python is easier to learn so maybe you could improve that ide since it's been left behind by LGM after the flurry of new functions and improvments of the last few months.

Why not add it to the Qt-Python IDE?

Only Debian
Debian is more stable, more faster and sexy xD
Fervi
Yes but ... Debian is always 2 or more years behind the cutting edge software, it also is less user friendly.
That said . . . Ubuntu Sucks big time! And Unity sucks too!
Long live LinuxMint and Cinnamon!

General ENIGMA / Re: I made a install script for Ubuntu.
« on: August 25, 2014, 10:55:52 pm »It should create a .desktop file inside the ENIGMA folder created in the same directory as the script. I chose to put the shortcut there so people can do whatever they want to do with it.
Okey thanks anyway, I tought it would really install and create desktop and menu entries.
I don't want my clean Ubuntu install junked up in 1 week so it sounds like an install script isn't a good idea.
Exactly right TKM.

Graphics and Video / Re: Gifs for my top-down scrolling shooter
« on: August 19, 2014, 05:58:06 pm »if you want the file to stay small and everything will be at least semi-HD, making the propeller a different sprite for each plane, could help a bit. Anything that removes the need for duplicate data can always be a help. Just depennds how much help it is and how badly you care about it. This is some really nice artwork, btw. you don't cease to surprise me. Really talented artist.
Edit
also make the propellers faster they look slow-mo which I'm sure was intentional, just don't keep it that way in the actual game!
The speed was due to the image (because of its size) freezing up my pc when I tried faster propellers, of course once in the game the images will be a little bit smaller so maybe that will help and also I'll let enigma handle the speed so I hope that will solve that isue.
Not really worried about making it HD, just not 16 bits sprites thats all.
