Issues Help Desk / Re: Installation Woes

Loaf you should use the wiki page:
http://enigma-dev.org/docs/Wiki/Install
I just rewrote the Windows section 2 days ago with clear step by step instructions. And if you did use that page why did you use the Stable build when I clearly put to use the Dev build (I even put it in bold)

A victim of what exactly.Another victim of installing from stable and having issues despite the constant probing by me for Ism to remove the option (or at the very least not make it the default option).

Ok i tried installing it on my desktop, and i get a differant error than i did at first with my laptop about a missing dll.libgmp-10.dll should be located at: C:\MinGW\bin\libgmp-10.dll if it is not there then your min-gw installation had not been successful, so try reinstalling min-gw.

Yeah you're probably another victim, you wanted to be installing from dev-trunk not stable, try re-installing from the dev-trunk. Hopefully that should work, please report if not.

Did you choose to install from Stable, Testing or Dev Trunk when it asked?

Wait, what was the error lol?
You shouldn't be getting make.exe error because you shouldn't be installing MingGW with the ENIGMA.exe. When it asks if you want to use the existing MinGW when you started ENIGMA.exe did you click yes?

Update ENIGMA\ENIGMAsystem\SHELL\Platforms\Win32\ffi\libFFI.a to 941r then it's fine. But I want this to be fixed if half the people on Windows are going to have issues and it's highly annoying doing that every time you update.
EDIT: Fuck it, I just reverted it and committed otherwise it's never gonna get sorted. So it should hopefully work now, let me know. Josh can update FFI when he can do so without breaking it.

Delete your current MinGW folder and ENIMGA. Then install MinGW to C:/ and don't install ENIGMA in the MinGW folder just install it anywhere else in C:/, Program Files is fine.

I've been bugging him Harri, still no success. Why are you not on the irc any more? Might be more effective with two people complaining :p

Proposals / Re: Advanced Code-Based Object Editor
« on: December 01, 2011, 06:37:23 am »
Leave the event list and left side properties as they are, just don't adjust their size with the object window like Rusky mentioned. Instead make them both manually resizeable/collapsible inside the object window (like a pane split).
Then I suggest killing all of D&D when you go into advanced mode. Convert all existing D&D into it's equivalent code and place into a single script and automatically embed the code editor into the right side area. Advanced users will then not have to deal with D&D at all and existing games/examples muddled with D&D will actually be usable.
There is a possible issue which could arise from this though. If someone switches to advanced mode then decides they want to switch back to basic mode all their D&D will remain converted into a code block. So you will have to add a warning to users about this when they go into advanced mode, but I doubt it will be too much of an issue.

From the wiki install page (http://enigma-dev.org/docs/Wiki/Install):
By the way, if you do get the install to work can you please report if you get the FFI error or not as mentioned here: http://enigma-dev.org/forums/index.php?topic=907

IMPORTANT NOTE: MinGW installation is currently broke. If you do not have MinGW installed then before installing ENIGMA install MinGW manually from: http://sourceforge.net/projects/mingw/files/Automated%20MinGW%20Installer/mingw-get-inst/

I've just been updating ENIGMA\ENIGMAsystem\SHELL\Platforms\Win32 to 941. Been getting rather annoying doing it all the time though, I refuse to update any more.

Use the updated installer zip on the install page not the same one as before.

It is from running ENIGMA.exe. The same thing has happened to me when trying a fresh install from the zip, I told Josh about it a few days ago. I presumed it was being caused by the MinGW installation as mingw-get didn't work:
