Programming Help / Re: Random number questions

Yes I believe we wrap the actual c standard functions, that said, there is no such thing as a truly random number, which is up for philosophical debate.

Here is a small isometric game I had started working on when I was getting bored with Project Mario from a long time ago. Not much functionality as I had just started the game, but it was a remake of Age of Man which was a really awesome game made with GM6 that I once reviewed for Markup Magazine, only I planned to make the game more advanced and add an isometric view.

It works best under OGL1, but it runs faster under Direct3D9, only thing is D3D and OGL3 speed up and slow down constantly.

Issues Help Desk / Re: Blend mode not working in DX9
« on: May 10, 2014, 09:49:12 pm »
Yes draw_circle_color was doing x+cos and y-sin where draw_circle was x+cos y+sin causing the culling orientation of the two functions to be different. Should not have been an issue though because I default both D3D and OGL to the same culling orientation.
Also, Darkstar2, when did you learn to work git? I never updated the Portable ZIP yet.

Why the hell did you not post the code on GitHub? Also to add syntax highlighting on the forums just do code="EDL" or code="GML" or CPP HTML etc.
Anyway, the problem is culling, if you add d3d_set_culling(false); before your draw code and run it in Direct3D 9 then it works.

General ENIGMA / Re: How do I optimize my backgrounds and graphic matters?

Yes Ben, only when you add the draw event code yourself, and when visible is checked.

Yes that is correct, but it will not do the default drawing I think it checks to see if the sprite_index sprite placed at x and y fits in the room, but if you add your own draw code it will draw it always.

Yes you're clearly a good artist TKG, but still, you know how to scare the beejaba's out of me. If I was artistic I'd make something, but I suck.

Yes listen to Onpon, more specifically look at the following link to see the exact update code we have.

@Robert i'm not sure what you mean. Either I'm stupid or it was something I missed. You can upload and share the file download. I'm not sure what else it's supposed to do.Let's say I upload a file version A, B, and C. The current version is C, but a user wants to download A, can Google drive allow them to select the version of the file, or do I have to send them a special link, or is it just simply not possible with Google drive like how Dropbox won't let you guys do it either?

@Rusky the majority of humanity that could potentially consider enigma will be turned of by Git, I'm not just speaking for myself, but for the benefit of ENIGMA. I don't know anyone who know how to crap around with got other than fully experienced software developers. If enigma is supposed to target beginners at all or people who don't want to fart around with years of coding like GM does then git simply is just not an option at all.It's insanely easy though, and you might want to think about all the Linux users that love utilizing their terminal. In fact, git revision software and package managers are the reason why software on Linux does not bloat your operating system because of the reuse of binaries and libraries. It also makes it insanely quick for a developer to do things, it's also possible for you to make a script and put the backup code in there and simply run the script. Although I use Windows because of Linux having shitty drivers for everything, I prefer to use Linux for software development and programming. Linux is a programmers paradise.
Also, GitHub is the most popular and basically the best revision software, it is a million times better than SVN, if we were still on Sourceforge you can guarantee people would be a lot more pissed off.

One thing I agree with Jimmy_D on is the whole scope of git and this repository shit will mean the end of enigma (just one of many potential reasons).The only people who should mess with got are enigma's devas, not it's game development users. That's an entirely different audience.No that couldn't be further from the truth, git was created by Linus Torvalds, the Linux Kernel is hosted on GitHub.

The only stupid question is one not asked...I agree, I say that a lot too.
Also, execute the following in an object in a new game as a slight variation of TKG's.
Code: (EDL) [Select]
// Note that it will draw to the game's window instead of being printed to the compile form...
for (i=0; i<=100 i+=1) {
show_message(string(i));
}

Yes and no, we have event_perform and we are aware it does not work on user defined events yet, just use the other function for now.
Don't go filing an issue because we already have a ticket on it.

I don't feel like downloading and reuploading the old versions it'll take me like several hours, unless someone really really REALLY needs one of the old versions. TKG, does Google drive let the people you share files with download the older versions? I'd like a file sharing host that just automatically lets people download the old versions.
