Function Peer Review / Graphic User Interface
« on: May 05, 2013, 03:43:23 am »
This is a set of functions I am going to add that become dependent on the set graphics system, they will make it easier to create textured controls and stuff.
Please post any suggestions or requests here before I get around to implementing these
Code: [Select]
gui_create_button();
gui_create_checkbox();
gui_create_textbox();
gui_create_radiooption();
gui_create_label();
gui_set_label_text();
gui_set_button_text();
gui_set_button_state();
gui_set_button_texture();
gui_set_checkbox_text();
gui_set_checkbox_state();
gui_set_textbox_text();
gui_set_textbox_state();
gui_set_radiooption_text();
gui_set_control_position(x, y);
gui_get_button_state();
gui_get_checkbox_state();
gui_get_radiooption_state();
gui_set_style();

General ENIGMA / Re: Should Josh start merging the compiler?
« on: May 05, 2013, 12:33:58 am »
fear not when I have a second, I am going to make an attempt at implementing event inheritance to the current compiler so we can at least make games properly, the rest of the flaws we can easily get around for the time being

The pretty printer basically takes the code and makes it export to several languages, in this case it takes the code and makes it easily export to JavaScript, which is required for the HTML5 port, basically it just means we put the HTML5 port and stuff on hold for a bit so that we can have scripting with event inheritance and EDL to be %100 GML compatible, then Josh can worry about his pretty printers, because its going to take him another 3 months to finish.

General ENIGMA / Should Josh start merging the compiler?
« on: May 04, 2013, 12:34:35 am »
Josh mainly has the compiler finished he just needs to add pretty printers, which basically come in handy for exporting to Java and making our HTML5 port etc etc
Now his parser/compiler is mainly completed and fixes event inheritance and all the little scripting irregularities, me and cheeseboys argument is that he should begin merging this stuff now, so that we can at least start making games, thats the only thing ruining compatibility right now, we need that now instead of waiting another 3 months for him to do pretty printers.
So please vote honestly

General ENIGMA / Re: CG Shader Compiler
« on: May 03, 2013, 08:09:11 pm »
TKG, yes and no, the CG compiler toolkit from nvidia will be integrated into the main engine, NGM will provide a scripting interface for your shaders, also we already have GLSL, please check the EDC i have a demonstration game up, there are also tutorials and docuemntations on shaders that can be found on the Wiki
Right now I am focused on graphics systems, finishing Box2D and merging these network functions as well as helping Spirit with NGM before worrying about integration of the CG toolkit.

Polygonz you know I am only joking right? I have no intentions of changing anything else, I clearly stated it in my original post

« on: May 02, 2013, 08:58:32 pm »
WARNING!!! were not changing it, so please don't bark at me, i only spent 3 seconds doing it
This is in response to YYG changing theirs and Josh stating his distaste for the current one, so I opened up inkscape shat on the keyboard and walah...
I personally think #2 is headed in the right direction, but IDC, we don need a new logo.
Theres the YYG one...

Ok but these also need to be renamed to the studio names before being merged.

General ENIGMA / Re: DirectX Graphics System Port *Forthevin*
« on: May 02, 2013, 02:14:36 pm »
Yes Deus, Josh just gave the #1 reason, I don't want polygonz to continue developing an outdated graphics system (OGL1), when he could be developing a next gen DX10 port, and providing a much larger compatibility base for ENIGMA.

hrm, well as soon as someone creates a bridge for the windowing system I can start with the DX port, I just don't know how the window system exactly works forthevin that is all, and I failed miserably at even exposing the window handle to the graphics system, that alone would make it possible for me to create the graphics device within the graphics_initialize call
and besides, polygonz keeps saying hes going to work on OGL1, which I do not want as it is being deprecated, he has proper DX10 and DX11 support, id rather he spend his time working on a good port, as with all the other developers
