doesn't need great battery life. Its mainly gunna be plugged in b/c im either gunna be at friends houses OR in my hammock (we have lots of extension cords.)

i already have a desktop: core 2 quad (2.33GHz) 4 gigs ram (800MHz) and an nvidia gts 250 (512MB)
Playing games (fairly good gfx intense games) but i need the extra processing power so compiling things (like wine) doesn't take an long time. I'll be dual booting 7 and ubuntu, I mainly want it so i am not restricted to my desk, i also may sell my desktop if it preforms well enough.

Im looking into buying a laptop, and was wondering about recommendations. I want pretty fast, with a decent GFX card (with decent openGL support) around $900 + shipping. Also, needs to run linux well (ubuntu). anyway, i thought this would be a good forum as it has quite a few ppl who know their crap.

well flash should get somewhat better with 10.1. I too prefer ubuntu and find mac's dock horrible... well it looks cool, but for all other purposes, horrible. After using it, linux seems much more advanced. APT = amazing. my fav. microsloth swindows version is XP. Vista is too slow.
