Programming Help / Re: Color values in GM
« on: August 18, 2014, 05:53:56 pm »little O/T but,
Actually the latest release version is Version 1.4.1398 time to update
It must be a beta version, because it didn't propose me to update my version and i am not registered to the beta channel. I am using the steam version which is always checking the installed version.
No it is an official first release, not a beta.
I'm using studio pro. I believe the steam version might have been updated yet.
BTW, version 1.4 will be the last revision before GMS 2, so it's a matter of time before GMS 1 is dumped and abandoned just like they did with GM8.1!

lol yeah you have no idea how much I am outdated indeed there is so much I need to update, been so damn busy lately, have not touched ENIGMA in a while, but soon I will get back in the game
What we need now is an updated portable
What we need now is an updated portable
Here is one that would be good for LGM:QuoteSelecting an object instance in the creation order list for the room editor will "move camera" to instance location.
Very practical for large rooms.
It's OT, but it seems that you are outdated. I've already implemented this in LateralGm several weeks ago ! :QuoteWhen the user clicks on an instance or a tile, a border is displayed around it. Settings have been added for customizing this border. Also, when a instance or a tile is selected in the list, it will be displayed centered in the room viewport.
https://github.com/IsmAvatar/LateralGM/pull/135
Time to update your version of LateralGM.

Off-Topic / Re: NakedPaulToast
« on: August 18, 2014, 02:33:34 pm »A simpler theory than a conspiracy between YYG and NPT would be that those who get banned are more annoying to YYG than NPT is, because they spread false rumors and throw tantrums about GM, while NPT calls them out for doing so.
Good point, however, who is NPT to police the forums and make himself an authority, besides, there are proper ways to deal with this, and it should be up to the moderators and staff, not a member to be policing others.
The ends don't justify the means and 2 wrongs don't make a right.

Well that part I witnessed ages ago, where he was helpful. I don't know what happened, medication? life trauma ? not getting any ?
large eggplant fell on his head ? who knows.....But to be fair there are FAR WORSE than him, don't look far, YYG themselves - I have seen very rude replies from YYG inside the bug mantis, guess perhaps it's no wonder nobody has touched NPT yet

crossing it. I honestly don't know why he spends so much of his life patrolling the GMC though, I guess he has nothing better to do.
Indeed.

Thanks for posting this TKG, like I said earlier I was not that much active on the GMC apparently I missed a lot of drama
But after reading this "pinch" as you put it,
I am wondering how the bloody hell do they let this happen ? Another person doing this would have been out long ago.
Perhaps he has vested interest in YYG ? investor ? who knows......
But these kinds of people I have come across quite a lot in real life so yeah, I can clearly see the rudeness in his replies. It's funny because back in the days I have read actually good posts from him, odd..... but oh well..... and it's apparent by the links you posted that people are calling him out too.
He must be a BIG incentive to YYG if they keep him around.

Works in Progress / Re: Cabin Fever Escape 3D
« on: August 18, 2014, 12:08:58 pm »Well I just checked an HTML file and realized it's been quite a while since I initially added cursor changing, and turns it it was done in a CSS style and not in JavaScript. HTML5 does support this according to w3schools. It's something jacked up with the QtWebKit. Oh well. What I have is close enough, thank you edsquare for the help! Though this issue isn't fixed I don't want to eat up more of your time.
Cheers.
In other words : "I'm not gonna fix it ok? stop bugging me!"
Looks like you took a quote directly from the YYG's handbook

Edit2: or perhaps a better solution, would be to send an email to Yoyo games and explain my problem. As i paid 40$ for a standard version of GM studio, i am sure they will understand.
lol - right good luck with that. Whether you paid $40 or $888, your odds of getting your answer are slim, unless you reach them on a good day and they are in a good mood, right out of the pub and downing a few Guinness.
you lose nothing to try though :p

TKG, if your Windows 7 takes 8 minutes to load and 4 minutes to shut down you have a very serious issue mate. What are your system specs ? That's bloody awful, I would think even the crappiest of machines would boot faster.
I don't even have SSD and my Win7 boots in less than 20 seconds full to desktop and I have lots of drivers and stuff installed.
Personally Win7 is my favourite windows OS, no complaints here......I have a rock solid and stable system. My 2 top rock solid OSes, Windows XP SP3 and Win7. I've done film work, editing, and hardcore stuff for years and never had any issues.

Issues Help Desk / Re: Chrome reports the Enigma Windows download as malware
« on: August 17, 2014, 08:25:10 pm »
Chrome is right in a way, ENIGMA is dangerous...... but in a good way / or bad way, depends how you look at it ! lol!, you might discover that on your own eventually
But on a serious note, there is no malware in ENIGMA, I have 2 trusted software on my PC, MalwareBytes Pro and AVIRA Premium and everything is just fine.
It is not ENIGMA itself that is the culprit but the self extractor - something is throwing off the heuristics scanning / or have properties similar to a malware that is falsely detected as malware.
It's not the first or last piece of software that gets false positives

Proposals / Re: Copy and paste in the rooms editor
« on: August 17, 2014, 08:20:44 pm »I like it. The multi-selection seems the most important to me though. Like selecting multiple objects/tiles and dragging them around would be awesome. Or selecting multiple objects and changing their types to another object.
How can one disagree with this This would be great, but I can imagine a bit more complex to achieve - go for it
All this and still LGM is stuck at 1.86 - I think all those feature deserve to push LGM into 1.9

General ENIGMA / Re: The Times They Are A Changin'
« on: August 11, 2014, 07:26:19 pm »This topic is a year old, so yes, he was the one who made a commit just to remove swear words from ENIGMA (and the steaming pile of **** error message) and in the commit message said how we should be more "professional". And I agreed, yet his topic's kept being filled with colorful language, thus the irony. He has mostly stopped doing that since.
Actually sometimes when used reasonably there is no harm in forum post, but there are some things I found in the source code, beyond unacceptable, certain things that could have serious implications, it goes far beyond cussing, and I won't go into it, but
agree, none of that shit should be present in the source code of all places, especially not racism, bigotry or slandering other companies or persons.
As far as keeping supporting old technology,
like OGL 1, that is a good point, you don't see many new generation games work with old hardware, games now require minimum DX9.....however, let's be honest about the type of games people make with crap studio and ENGIMA, it's not exactly state of the art. Most of the rubbish people make in GM could easily be achieved in OGL1. Very few people raise the bar and will do 3D stuff or stuff requiring advanced functionality.
I've actually seen some really amazing stuff done with GM, a really nice graphically rich FPS with reflections, grass and commercial quality.....but those are pins in a bloody hay stack. Why because GayMaker (and ENIGMA) makes it easy for people to make 2D games, but the better games, 3D stuff, shaders, modeling, requires more advanced skill that most people using these software don't have

I love irony....
but you did not get the meaning.
Actually nothing wrong with complaining, when backing up arguments more than just saying "this sucks ****" etc..... you and many of us here have backed up with solid FACTS your complaints, for some, in lengthy detail Besides I don't think people care, people want results and will judge ENIGMA by what it delivers - some of you clearly have not seen the bashing and flaming and unprofessional nature of many gaming and software forums out there, as I observed through the years....... That's what moderators are there for.
I agree however we shouldn't hold back on saying what we think just to please others.
You sure have not held back and neither have many developers of ENIGMA It should not stop its users either.
There are 2 differences between GMC and ENIGMA.
Here, if you don't agree with the administrator or developer, you still get to keep your account and post, and your post won't get deleted, edited or locked.
Is the GMC any more "professional" quite the opposite........
but you did not get the meaning.
Also you should relax about the other stuff, I generally don't complain about anything anymore,

ENIGMA being laid back is a very nice feature of this community that I've come to respect, second we should still remain professional on the outside, there is a time and place for everything, and I think the balance is kept well.

General ENIGMA / Re: GameMaker: Studio sucks dick, and is massively fuckin slow
« on: August 10, 2014, 06:13:39 pm »I like how you use swear words every 10 syllables and yet ironically was the one whining about them in ENIGMA.
Was it him or was it yourself who whined about it, I reckon it was you who mentioned something about it. There is lots of that in the source code even, by ENIGMA's own developers....for starters the developers should practice what they preach and that goes for everyone and stop putting the blame on users for giving the community a bad name because I strongly disagree with that.
As to Robert I think in this case the cussing was appropriate and made a strong point about GM, which I fully agree with. I mean people pay for software that is bloated and expensive, and finding out that FREE software that is far from even being optimised still blows GM in terms of size and speed, that is a major **** in the arse for those of us who paid money for said software.
@Robert: Wait for GMS 2 coming out next year, it'll probably be just as slow if not slower. They took the lazy approach from day 1 and will not change their ways any time soon. Their focus is getting the product out the door and cashing out $$$. ENIGMA's development is slow but it aims to get things done right and as fast as possible in terms of performance. Now imagine if ENIGMA cut ties with GM and did its OWN engine, with similar features to GM, with its own set of functions and more, it would be even better......
LOL @ the 25fps of OGL1
I didn't realise it was that bad.
BTW these changes you are doing, only affect 3D stuff right ? Does not affect (either positively or negatively) 2D stuff, which most people use, right ?

Proposals / Re: some proposal
« on: August 07, 2014, 06:01:14 pm »By the images he posted I guess he means folding code by clicking on the opening brace so it shuts down until you can't read that part of the code but see only the braces, and by clicking on the same brace again you unfold the code.
Ahhh gotcha now, I missed the - / + giveaway
Indeed that would be practical if you have lots of code.
Quote
I vote for this too.
I agree I would love to be able to do EVERYTHING
into one block of code, instead of dragging event
icons, sort of like
[step of obj_001]
(code here)
[collision of obj_001]
(code here)
etc.
But I think that can already be done in GMS.
Quote
Just like many IDE's do allow to do that, perfect for the visually impaired (like me)
Would be appreciated when working in 1920x1080
or 4k resolutoins lol !
