Off-Topic / Why are Mobile Games Shit?
« on: December 17, 2013, 11:31:26 pm »
So many people have bought YYG's games, we are talking hundreds of thousands here. If mobile games are the future of gaming the future of gaming is shit. Just like everyone else who shits up the appstores, YYG clearly don't deserve the attention they're getting. I particularly find buying Froad to be the dumbest use of a dollar I could think of I realized after buying it. All these GMC/sandbox geeks drool and orgasm over Mr. Karoshi and They Need To Be Fed while I for one find those two games to be almost as bad as Froad. There's several levels  (almost most of them) you can beat first try in under 30 seconds without even giving the game your full attention. Even very early Mario and Sonic games did better than that, each level on these take at least several minutes.

They Need to be Fed has only one "enemy" or way to lose in almost every level - static spikes. Early Mario and Sonic games have not just spikes but all sorts of enemies, great variety, too. Every level has several different types of enemies all act differently from one another. Almost every level introduces a new type of enemy. Old Mario and Sonic games have boss battles, none of YYG's games have this.

Why are mobile games shit?

Sure, there are a few that can take up a few hours, you can be lost or lonely and pull the thing from your pocket and bypass a few minutes of boredom.
But generally, there aren't many games on mobiles that you'd go out of your way to play.

I keep seeing game developers claiming mobile gaming is the future of gaming. If that is true it is game over for me because I am in no way gaming on some dinky phone or iPad when I have a 28" LCD and a 50" Plasma to game on. Fuck you game developers, you are writing your own future wishes against our true wishes. The real reason they say that is because it is less work for more money. It's all about the money and nothing else.

Why is it a stupid idea to publish mobile games? This is why: http://www.gamasutra.com/blogs/JakeBirkett/20130122/185245/PC_is_not_dead_and_mobile_is_shit_with_Charts.php

I strongly recommend googling "why are mobile games shit" for more useful links and answers.

Proposals / Re: New Export Options
« on: December 13, 2013, 04:26:56 pm »
I saw that post Robert, but since Chrome is its own unique OS there should be a chrome download Logo/icon and link w/ a setup instructions list on the download and wiki pages like there is for Windows, Mac and Linux. Neither of which I could find in your post. =P

@AsuMagic yeah those are much more desirable but they'd be a lot more work to implement, Solaris and chrome book AFAIK each have Java for LGM and MinGW for compiling, which means with almost little or no work aside from installing these OS, these exports could be easily done. And I heard wiibrew uses c++ so that seems like an easy rout too.

PSP is stretching it, that would be a lot of work. I'll add XB1 and WiiU to the list, but I wouldn't be surprised if none of these potential exports will ever come to be.

My bad DaSpirit I guess my anxiousness to see this projects done has gotten the best of me. Keep up the great work you've done a lot more than what I originally thought. =)

I don't know why you still insist on advertising a raw multiline textbox. I'm not accusing you of not knowing any c++, but technically none of us can see visible evidence that you can do anything beyond creating a GUI layout in Qt's XML. If you actually have something to show us in a million years from now when we're all dead, only then I will take interest in this project of yours, but right now I can hardly call it a "project" of any kind.

I don't mean to be rude I'm just being honest with you.If you wonder why so many people are asking about this thing and if it is actually being updated, they are asking that because of what you are unintentionally false-advertising. If this is a "concept" (whatever that means) that won't get anywhere, I have no idea what there even is to discuss. Instead of making everyone realize you are smart that you know C++, and getting us all to hope for something that most likely will never come into existence, keep these things to yourself at least until you have something real and ready to show us.

If there is anyone who reminds me how much we need Robert back in action, at full speed ahead, it's you. Because Robert worked his ass off, and until josh graduates we're stuck with you and a few others who get nothing done [correct me if I'm wrong, IDK, this is partially my assumption]. Anyway we're still screwed by Robert's lesser activity and from what it seems you, as microscopic as your contributions have been, had the audacity to verbally attack Robert of all people, I mean, you made a single grain of sand, he made a mansion, yet you seriously think this text editor is going to stand a chance against all Robert has done. I don't mean any harm in saying these things but I'm just warning you that if we ever get a contributer like Robert again whoever they might be, please don't scare them away with zero respect and no appreciation. It would suck for us. And it would suck for you. Self-destructive.

I'm putting my other projects on hold as this one is being started.

Pleasant dreams. Sleep well for eternity.

There is no escape. All is lost from you.

Since GameMaker:Studio's 3D sucks so bad, a lot
of pre-rendered animations will be implemented
such as this one. It helps visually for the players.

Does this game just not appeal to anyone?

Hey, out of curiosity, I know some of these platforms may be easy to add, but are they really being considered though? When, by a rough estimate, would these be officially implemented?

The image above was pre-rendered with Sweet Home 3D - http://www.sweethome3d.com/

This is the actual scene above being rendered in real-time via GameMaker:Studio.

The full version is now available for purchase onto any Android device from the Amazon AppStore for just 99ยข. The free lite version for Android is currently being updated. I will post the update here when it's ready. Until then if you are unsure about whether you want to buy the full version, the full version is freeware for Windows; it runs precisely on Windows as it does on Android. Mac and Ubuntu users - it is freeware for your desktops as well, but is yet to be released.

Hi egofree, check out the OP under "How to play" there are now more control
options provided for you and everyone else who might find this useful. You
weren't the only guy suggesting this so I figured, hey, why not? Have fun.
