General ENIGMA / Re: General Enigma Questions
« on: October 09, 2014, 08:48:54 pm »Rubbish! Thats not the answer I wanted... Is there a suggested alternative? I am using them as a less memory intensive alternative to ds_grids.
Since Enigma is unpaid volunteer work, I am assuming asking for an estimated date of completion for buffers is "It'll be done when it's done." It will probably be another 10 years before I finish my game anyway, so I guess I can just keep messing around with GMS and check back here every now and again.
Thanks for all the help everyone. I'm sure I'll be coming back.
That's spot on mate, at least The thing is that ENIGMA is not and never claimed to be 100% compatible with GM, however you can make full games with ENIGMA and find new ways to perform what you can in GMS, though if you are looking for 100% compatibility in porting your game, then I reckon you probably might be disappointed, ideally ENIGMA one day would be its own unique product, many of us hope so.
Don't hold your breath on the 10 years though, things get fixed / implemented here at a surprising rate pending developers availability, so you might be surprised, I know I was surprised
Cheers

I'm guessing probably some revamped room editor (very educated guess mind you, not random !)
But I guess we all know for sure it has something to do with LGM LOL!

lol this last one is identical to windows 10's crappy theme.......BLACK text on fucking dark blue caption!
Who's the genius who thought of using black text LOL
That's my only gripe in win10, cannot stand to see black text on dark colored areas.

Finished Games / Re: Laboratory Escape 3D
« on: October 08, 2014, 07:27:54 pm »Yo everybody! Darkstar2, edsquare, and others have had issues running this game because of how big the window's resolution is. This is also a problem Cabin Fever Escape 3D is having. While I haven't fixed it for CFE3D, I have fixed it for this game however, which means you guys can now play this game without scaling issues. Cheers.
Thanks mate, but I already played your game and finished it...remember ? I played it at 1920x1080 and it fixed it. Such an easy game it was probably one of the easiest games I played of all time
And if anybody here still has not finished the game, I'd be seriously shocked.......

Who said anything about virus infection ? There is more to this than virus infection. You have spyware, malware, adware, key loggers, exploits, (should I go on?)

LOL! Well I guess sarcasm failed Though I was not fond of the dark theme myself in GMS, I would not mind having it optional in LGM, guess I just prefer white, it keeps me awake and focused and it makes me feel I am using windows But thanks anyway, guess I'll use the dark theme for appropriate occasions

Issues Help Desk / Re: Chrome reports the Enigma Windows download as malware
« on: October 08, 2014, 02:02:56 pm »Some people still think they can only infect their system or get malware through EXE.
Well, that's mostly true on Windows, since exe is the only extension used for executable binaries (though technically a batch script could cause an infection, I don't think they're ever used for the purpose; binaries are far easier to get people to run), and I don't think those dangerous "macros" in MS Word are typically used/trusted anymore, are they? If a file is really just data that is never transformed into instructions for execution, it simply is not possible to use it to cause an infection, short of exploiting huge software bugs. The problem with Windows, though, is that extensions are hidden by default, so people can get away with distributing files with names like "cat.jpg.exe" and making people think it's an image file. It also doesn't help that Windows executables can have icons embedded into them.
EXE is not the only way in window to get malware in your system. You can get it through your browser, javascript, flash, vbs, etc.etc. The common ways to get them is EXE/COM, most of the malwares/spyware/adware CRAP people get online though are non EXE, through web surfing, if they don't properly configure their browser security settings or use proper software......A malicious web site could deposit crap on your system without you downloading a single EXE.......People again still believe you only get infected by "downloading" something.....And yet when people find out they were infected their first response is : "That's strange, I did not DOWNLOAD anything"..... Anti virus companies, anti malware copanies, etc.....make money on people not knowing all these things...(a polite way of saying out of people's ignorance )
That's why good anti-virus / malware software have real time file *AND* web monitoring to intercept any activity that would compromise your system.
I use AntiVir Premium (AVIRA) combined with MalwareBytes PRO, both are monitoring real time.
An anti-virus ALONE is not enough as its optimised mostly for viruses, whilst the other more for malware/spyware/adware/key loggers, and other crap.

Finished Games / Re: Window Styler, Web Browser, and Embed Program
« on: October 08, 2014, 01:54:55 pm »Thanks for the info Darkstar2 so you know I wasn't bashing YYG again as I'm past that phase (destructive to this community and it's growth) I was just agreeing with Beowulff because I didn't know the reason behind it or who's fault it really is.
lol - I could care less though because when properly backed up with arguments they do, they are still far from flawless, but I do credit them sometimes, rarely, but fair is fair. Chargebacks might not be the only reason. When dealing with eCurrency you are subject to fraudulent funds. If someone were to buy your products using a stolen PayPal or fraudulent funds, PayPal would reverse the money from YYG's account and return it to its rightful owner. Imagine now if YYG paid you already. So this way it protects YYG against chargebacks, disputes, fraudulent transactions, etc. Only problem here is due to the selling of non tangible goods, someone could end up in theory buying your products with fraudulent funds, and still keeping it, despite money being reversed, as there is no way for YYG or the developer to know if you are still using your extension.
Welcome to the world of selling online......

I've considered selling elsewhere already, and here's a start:

Careful, read the terms and condition for any exclusivity clause. Some sites offer 2 tier commissions based on your plan, exclusive means you can only sell through their site, earn a higher commission or a much lower one but non exclusive.
I don't know how Market Place works or if YYG requires you remain exclusive to the market place....you have to check the agreement.....If they are giving you 70% I'd think there is some exclusivity clause somewhere though not sure on that.

Got 1 buy and it was only live for a couple weeks on Scirra! Woohoo! I just made 0.5 dollars!
Well that's a start remember volume......If you have 1 million people buy your 0.50 product......
There are people making a killing and big BIG figures, it all comes down to the product, demand, niche, etc.
Find something high demand, spectacular, high quality, and you basically are on your way.
But beware of competition, that's the thing........

TKG, I believe there is a reason why they hold on to the money for 60 days. They use PayPal right ? They might have funds on hold for a certain period, and also to protect against dispute/chargebacks, but perhaps other internal reasons, sending bulk payments instead.
Still an accounts receivable though. IF you deal with most affiliate programs online where you earn, (from legit sources that is) that's about the time you wait.
and BTW, lonewolff's video plugin sold well because his product was HIGH DEMAND. As far as music and sounds, that is harder due to competitiveness and the availability of many samples online and there is other reasons as well due to the "demographics" of GM (lone knows what I'm talking about )
Keep in mind TKG you have other venues to sell your products, the YYG market place might not be the best place. at least not for this category

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Personal_fable
Well in more simple terms, you tell someone not to do something they will do it.
Some people like to try and learn from their mistakes.
