Ideas and Design / Re: Would anyone be interested in me redesigning the site?
« on: April 09, 2018, 06:57:01 am »
I also think the current design looks a little dated and boring.
On the homepage isn't a single image of the IDE (except for the action maker screen shot) or screen shots of games made with enigma/lateralgm.
By visiting the home page one wouldn't even think that this web presence is about making games. The site definitely needs an eye catcher on the home page itself.
Your mock up looks pretty cool.
Is the grayish part an image slide show? (I can't really tell from the video)
It would also be nice to have a page that shows enigmas main features. A screen shot + short description for each, even though most of them are more or less identical to GM. Since the GMS2 UI has been redesigned the two projects will inevitable drift apart in the future.

Happy new year to all of you.
I really like toying around with this engine. It is really great and deserves a lot more attention.
Hope that I can contribute something too in the future but currently I'm still learning.

« on: December 18, 2017, 03:12:54 am »
Thanks that worked. I guess enabling the ini extension by default won't harm.
By the way what does the GM5 compatibility extension do? Unfortunately I haven't found any deeper explanation about any of the extensions in the Wiki.

Issues Help Desk / LateralGM forgets activated extensions
« on: December 15, 2017, 06:21:17 am »
Hi,
whenever I close LateralGM all the extensions I have checked in the game settings get set to their default value after restarting the IDE.
After setting the extensions I can use them for the duration of that development session. The next time I open the project I get compile errors unless I don't open the settings and add a check mark again.

Issues Help Desk / Re: LateralGM doesn't delete *gmx files from the filesystem
« on: December 11, 2017, 03:30:02 am »
Thanks for clarification.
One could also add a new entry to the context menu of the assets like "restore from backup" if you accidentally deleted something.
By the way, if I wanted to retrieve an asset from the file system "backup" which files would I have to edit?

« on: December 09, 2017, 06:18:22 am »
Hi,
when I try to "compile" my game I get an error: "Compile failed at c++ level" and the compilation end with "lto1: fatal error: bytecode stream generated with LTO version 3.0 instead of the expected 3.1"
Running the game by hitting the "Run" button compiles flawlessly though and the game runs afterwards.
Do I have to update some library?

Issues Help Desk / Re: LateralGM doesn't delete *gmx files from the filesystem
« on: December 09, 2017, 06:10:46 am »
Hi hpg678 nice to meet another Linux user
I'm really interested to know what the developers think about this "feature".
I found this by accident when I was renaming some of my objects. Forgot to update the references in the code and somehow one of my sprites showed a different image when I ran the game even though none of the objects in the treeview had that name any more.
After updating the names in my scripts it worked again. But this might as well be another issue.

Issues Help Desk / LateralGM doesn't delete *gmx files from the filesystem
« on: December 08, 2017, 08:51:18 am »
Hi,
I don't know if this might be intended for backup reasons but I just found out that LateralGM doesn't delete resources (Rooms, Sprites, etc) from the file system after they were deleted via context menu from the resources tree inside LGM. They disappear in LGM but still stay on the filesystem. This creates a mess in the project folder.
If I delete a room and add a new one with the same name it gets overwritten on the file system.
Is this a bug?
LateralGM Version: 1.8.7.11
Linux Mint 17.3 / 64Bit
I don't know if this might be intended for backup reasons but I just found out that LateralGM doesn't delete resources (Rooms, Sprites, etc) from the file system after they were deleted via context menu from the resources tree inside LGM. They disappear in LGM but still stay on the filesystem. This creates a mess in the project folder.
If I delete a room and add a new one with the same name it gets overwritten on the file system.
Is this a bug?

Hi Ozalym and welcome to the forum.
I myself haven't used GM either but it's tutorials work pretty well with Enigma.
Wish you best luck with your project.

Looks pretty neat. I agree that the dark theme should be default, the first thing I did with lateralgm was installing a dark theme. ^^
The syntax highlighting in the code editor looks very pleasing to the eye too.
Could you upload a Linux version of the editor please? Can't wait to try it.

The recommended method didn't work for me either.
Try to cd into the enigma-dev directory and run the following command from the terminal to run the ide:
This is what worked for me.
