Issues Help Desk / Re: audio_play_music() making game crash!
« on: July 14, 2013, 11:08:41 am »
Harri, blame that on IsmAvatar
Also, I am sorry the audio functions are not documented on the Wiki yet, I just did all string functions this morning and am currently working on path functions of which I have half done.

Hello lolman, I am sorry I did not see your post. Yes I have discovered myself there is a bug with that function, audio_play_sound however works fine. For now while I am still working on audio currently, please just use the sound_play and sound_* functions

Issues Help Desk / Re: missing surface functions?
« on: July 14, 2013, 06:09:48 am »
sidegame, they do exist, they just are not syntax higlighting in the script editor, I am not sure what is causing this bug, I believe it might be something to do with the mergal of our script editing component, JoshEdit, because JEdit was supposed to use a hard coded keyword list, and I believe this is being passed to JoshEdit now. This needs to be investigated and resolved. Go ahead and use the functions, they just won't be colored like all the other functions inside that window until someone fixes it.

JoshDreamland, we will eventually work this out the correct way wont we? I mean is that not kind of the point of ENIGMA, build games and they run anywhere?

Yes as you can in the commit messages he's doing the final touches on templates then he's doing some internal testing with a few people to try and break things (on purpose) with it and once any kinks are ironed out it will get merged, and the first thing I'll have him doing is event inheritance. Should be added before the end of this month.

The change in rhetoric of the compiler output was my doing at the behest of several users including myself and the 64digits community.

General ENIGMA / Contributing to the Wiki
« on: July 09, 2013, 04:34:44 am »
Hello everybody, I figured it was time I write a post about this. We have our Wiki for documenting functions, actions, tutorials, and everything regarding ENIGMA, so that everything can be found very easily. We also encourage members to edit and contribute as well, if you already have a forum account you can simply log in with the same credentials and begin editing and creating articles.

Much contribution has come from TheExDeus, polygon, Josh, IsmAvatar, and myself. Lately I have been the driving force behind much of its improvement and documentation, and this can get rather tiresome. I would just like to say I appreciate any and all contributions no matter how small they may be, due to the sheer size of the thing it is very hard for me to get every single function documented. Any help is appreciated.

hai ego
Hey this is because we don't have polymorphism completed yet and parenting does not actually do anything. Josh will have this fixed in the new compiler, he is already finished with JDI and running tests on it now, then he needs to write a pretty printer and we will have the new compiler with all scripting bugs fixed, and then we will have event inheritance, polymorphism, etc. It won't be long, I promise you.

Function Peer Review / Re: sprite_create_from_screen
« on: July 09, 2013, 04:00:44 am »
Josh, I can tell you how Game Maker handles views, they suck, have a nice day. Seriously though, they are unbelievably glitchy in Game Maker, especially trying to get two of them to work simultaneously, you can never get the resolution correctly with them either, the screen resolution does not matter it is the rendering area resolution that people don't ever try to get correct, because it is freaking impossible.
@seeker, the licensing issue Josh speaks of is, we have most of our code licensed GPL and we need to work out an exception where people can sell games made with ENIGMA, but while trying to keep it from our project being stolen from us.

Josh, spoken like a true gentleman.
Deus, as far as the server goes its my understanding we are pretty good on that, Josh said the cost is not very high and from what I can tell there is still plenty of room left.

Hai fervi, did you happen update LateralGM any time soon?
And I think it is a bug XD
Edit: I have opened your game and can reproduce this myself. I also extracted the EGM and noticed that the objects are in fact saved within the room so this is definitely an LGM bug.
https://github.com/IsmAvatar/LateralGM/issues?state=open
Please report it on the LateralGM issue tracker along with the exact steps to replicate and your operating system and other useful information.
