Ok not Harry Potter... perhaps?... a hustler magazine.

Yep. C# is nice, just not developer friendly when it comes to cross-platform development. Damn Microsoft! Greedy bastards!

My point exactly. It's harder to read but with powerful syntax highlighting, reading C++ can be like reading Harry Potter.

Cool.
Why shouldn't they be? I like having objects as classes. Keeping it that way makes EDL an object-oriented scripting language. I really don't know what I'm saying.
I didn't say they weren't. I said they shouldn't be, and that I didn't know how they worked.
If they are classes, how do you handle the index thing? A big switch statement or something?

... And if your concern is efficiency, I'll smack you ...
Ha ha. Funny.
Using multiple parsers to parse the same thing is a little unorthodox. I don't know too much about parsers so don't smack me if I say something wrong, but why not have one parser that has multiple stages of parsing or does ENIGMA use a global chain of parsers? I guess either way you'll get the same efficiency.

Issues Help Desk / Re: How do you do collision in Enigma?
« on: August 12, 2009, 07:08:44 pm »
I didn't realize that you had to recompile the enigma plugin to use in the newer LGM and I've been sitting for two days trying to figure out why compiling is so slow it seemed stopped.

Yeah but GML is a lot easier to read than C++.

Now I'm confused. You can assign types in EDL? What about template classes? Is this valid:
I would test all this without using any graphics but I can't get ENIGMA to compile or it just takes too long I don't know. It seems like ENIGMA is getting stuck on my PC when sending the object data.
Code: [Select]
// EDL Script for 'object0 initialization'
// Lets just say the 'vec3' class is implemented and setup to compile in ENIGMA
var forward = vec3<double>(5.5, 0, 44.7)
var position = vec3<double>(5.5, 0, 44.7)
Code: [Select]
// EDL Script for 'object0 update'
if keyboard_key_pressed(ord('W'))
{
position += forward
}

Hey! I love the way Eclipse highlighted my code! Maybe that's why it was so slow... but at any rate I didn't have as many typo's as usual and my code looked pretty.

Cool so YOU can assign types to your variables in EDL. Lol. I asked this same question here a few minutes ago.

The colors are not the problem. The problem is the way it highlights. The default C++ highlighter doesn't highlight preprocessor keywords, local variables, class variables or type-definitions.It highlights everything after the '#' symbol which is hard to read. Anyways no worries, I'm wasting time making my own C::B plug-in for highlighting everything in c++. This will make sure you don't have any errors in your code because if it doesn't belong, it wont be highlighted.

In EDL it would be nice to override auto assignment of variable types and be able to manually assign a type to your variables.

Does anyone know of a good Code::Blocks/Scintilla highlighter for C++? The default highlighter sucks and I don't feel like messing with Scintilla and XML.
