I don't like it, but if it had started out that way people would probably enjoy it more. Used to it and all, you know.

UAC was the most annoying thing in vista. It's still there, just not annoying.
Drivers are another big thing they want to improve with 7.
Following a bad standard makes something bad. Following a standard does not give you magic powers or exempt you from good design. POSIX is based on UNIX which is, unfortunately, gross. Sorry.
Yes, package managers are great. But if you've never had to compile anything by hand you're lucky, or not a programmer.

They've done plenty. They had to all get used to the code (they're not Mark, they weren't acquainted with it from the start). Although running an exe with a plugin isn't all that impressive, the fact that they integrated it smoothly into a big community site and, by the way, didn't just run an exe, they separated the game data so that only that would be downloaded. They're fulfilling the distribution role differently and in a more unified way, their whole goal is to be a "youtube for games." They have also been doing the Mac port.
And Enigma has definitely not done most of a rewrite of GM. Seriously.

You'd want a 52 bit processor in that case.
And we have unicode silly. If people would just use it.

well, essentially vista but more fast and stable, and without the stupid problems vista has with UAC. so yeah, I guess it's the same thing... DUH. no.
and so what if it "rips off" kde? does that even matter? I don't think so anyway. and it seems to be getting less in your way than before.
and another thing. linux is really not all that much better than windows. seriously, look at all this random crap thrown everywhere! /bin, /usr/bin, /home/username/bin, bla bla bla bla bla bla... and hardly anything works the first time. compile everything yourself, bla bla bla. windows may have its problems, but so does linux. it's just a matter of what you're more used to or what kind of problems bother you less.

it's called inflation and making a site, fool.
in 2 years for making the mac port, starting up a company, making plans for the future of GM, and oh, that one little thing, building the freaking site. they're a rather small company. get over it. you've probably already payed anyway, haven't you? and it's not substantial either.

but if you're writing an operating system you have to assume something is some amount of bytes.

you can, however, keep it mostly hack-free. validate the x and y values every few seconds so they can't just teleport all over the place. and so on.

Ask josh as said a2h, but since it's still ALPHA why are you even considering "ownage factor?" O_o
Enigma is a compiler for GM. LGM is included because there is also a plugin that is included with it that gives you a menu item to compile using Enigma.

ASM is beautiful. It's how the processor works, and anything as awesome as a CPU is beautiful.
And anti-decompiler patches are retarded. If you game gets decompiled, it won't matter because it'll be by nobody.
