General ENIGMA / Re: Splashscreens
« on: November 05, 2015, 04:37:53 am »Ok so, basically, I am a terrible artist, and LateralGM could use a good modern splash screen. I've made several attempts before and we've come up with semi-good splash screens before. I have been making some more attempts and just can't quite get it right. If there is any graphics artist who would be interested in designing one, please share them in this topic.
Don't be so modest, you've done a good job.
Here is my two cents :
I like it. But i wonder if there is too much red. What if we change the background's color ? A little more contrast also ?
I like it too. Perhaps a little more contrast for the blue colors ?
Nice, but it me makes think about an email. Is it on purpose ? What is the link with LateralGM ? I feel the email concept is more appropriate if we talking about a program which manages email.
The following two are not bad, but i feel the blues are too dull and grayish. The last one would be really nice with different blues.

Robert, it's great to see you are working again on LateralGM. We are eager to see your work.
By the way, did you see that Sorlok has made a pull request for LateralGM a while ago : https://github.com/IsmAvatar/LateralGM/pull/216

Graphics and Video / Re: Between heaven and earth
« on: September 30, 2015, 09:39:40 am »I'm going to be honest, the greatest experience I could probably have in life is to just go here and masturbate in the wild. If somebody would just stick out a desk out there for me, I could accomplish a lifetime of work in so little time. I'm using one of these as my new desktop background for a while to freshen things up a bit. The site looks great and I am very impressed with its responsiveness with such high quality photographs.
Thanks Robert. By the way, you should try once sex with another person, it's even better than alone ! Believe me !

« on: September 30, 2015, 09:28:27 am »For a first website it ain't bad. I do like the routes and pictures. Did you really take them? I'm going to CERN this october so I will go near Montreux area and probably see that too. Looks like a beautiful place.
Yes, i took all the photos. As i live in Geneva, where the Cern is located (some of the places are in France too), i know well this organization. On a regular basis, it's possible for the public to visit some of its places. Last winter i visited the Lhcb site : http://lhcb-public.web.cern.ch/lhcb-public/. The Cern is looking all the time for scientists and also developers, but it's very difficult to get a job there, as the competition is huge. I never had a job interview there.
I love Montreux, it's one of my favorite place in my region. It's about 100 kilometers from Geneva. You have often outstanding sunsets there. I could spend all my afternoons there ! They put also a lot of flowers and exotic plants near the lake. You can have a walk near the lake up to the Chillon castle. You should visit also this castle, as it is very nice. (c.f https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ch%C3%A2teau_de_Chillon). Here is a few photos i took in Montreux on different occasions with my mobile phone (the photos are a little blurry because i downsized them in photoshop for this forum) :
Also if you like mountains, and you don't have a car, you can take a train from Montreux up to 'Rochers de Naye' (c.f https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rochers_de_Naye), where you have gorgeous views of the region and the lake.

Graphics and Video / Between heaven and earth

I took some courses a few months ago as a front end developer. We had to make a web site. I chose to make one about hiking, named 'Entre terre et ciel' (Between heaven and earth), with some photos i took. Recently i updated the site with the bootstrap framework in order to make it responsive. This means it should work flawlessly on mobile phones. The hikes descriptions are not finished yet, and i've put Lorem Ipsum instead (c.f https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lorem_ipsum)
This is the first time i make a web site, so please be indulgent
You can test the site here : http://ateliers.nomades.ch/~depol/
As a teaser, here is a screenshot of the home page:

Ideas and Design / Re: LateralGM seems a little clunky overall, Ideas but not sure how to develop them.
« on: September 21, 2015, 01:58:07 pm »I am doing this release to fix the JoshEdit problems so that egofree is able to build LGM again and people can continue to develop it.
Thanks Robert, i really appreciate !

Proposals / Re: Editor Enhancement
« on: September 08, 2015, 06:03:29 am »
Hi Robert,
I think the best solution would be to let the user choose where he wants the panel. In modern IDE, usually it's possible to do it. For instance, in Eclipse, you can drag and drop the panel and dock it where you want. Now i don't know if it can be easily done right now with LateralGM. But we know that you've worked on this : http://enigma-dev.org/forums/index.php?topic=2571.0 (oracle contributor).

Developing ENIGMA / Re: Debuging the .dll
« on: September 04, 2015, 10:47:07 am »We are using JNA. The fixes I did was in the plugin code (JDI, the parser).
Indeed, JDI is not JNI

« on: September 04, 2015, 10:30:35 am »I fixed that null pointer nonsense and it reduced LGM crashes to almost zero on my laptop.
Great news ! I am surprised : it seems we are using JNI, and i thought that the LateralGM plugin was using JNA.

The man who sold Minecraft to Microsoft for £2.5 billion says it's made him miserable
Minecraft creator Markus Persson has posted a series of tweets revealing that he feels deeply lonely.
Persson sold his gaming company Mojang to Microsoft for $2.5 billion almost a year ago.
He spent a reported $70 million on an 8-bedroom, 15-bathroom mansion in Beverley Hills that came complete with a replica James Dean motorbike and a bar stacked with Dom Perignon.
Since, he’s been hosting parties attended by Selena Gomez and skateboarder Tony Hawk and had Skrillex DJ a pool party for guests in his infinity pool, which has panoramic views across LA. So many parties, that he was surprised recently to discover a huge pile of lost and found items left by guests in his garage.
So it’s surprising to learn that the video game programmer has never felt more alone. "The problem with getting everything is you run out of reasons to keep trying, and human interaction becomes impossible due to imbalance," he tweeted.

I think developers here should be careful if they don't want to follow the same path !
More seriously, i am sure that to be very wealthy don't make you happy. If you are a billionaire, you will be surrounded by people who are only interested only by your money ! Fortunately, i don't have this problem !

Developing ENIGMA / Re: Styleguide
« on: September 01, 2015, 12:14:25 pm »I use Sublime Test3 now as an editor and I really enjoy.
This is a little bit off-topic, but since you are talking about text editor, there is a totally free and open-source alternative, which is is fine also : atom editor (https://atom.io/). It has also tons of plugins available. (To install new ones : File->settings->packages).

Developing ENIGMA / Re: Styleguide
« on: September 01, 2015, 04:26:29 am »I feel ENIGMA and LateralGM have suffered tremendously from the lack of an enforced styleguide.
For LateralGM, IsmAvatar has defined a styleguide with an eclipse 'formatter' called 'Girard'. If i remember well, it is included in the github project. Then in eclipse, you can automatically apply this formatter on the project.
