I'm not sure I'd use the E on paper for GM files. It'd be more appropriate to use something similar to the GM ball-and-hammer icon.

Shouldn't it be based on the program it opens with? Apple doesn't own the AVI file format, but QuickTime still sets the icon for it when is is set to open with it.

Yeah. It depends on what program the user uses to open the file with. If the user uses LGM/ENIGMA to open GM files, the LGM logo (or ENIGMA logo) appears on a piece of Windows (non-custom SVG drawn) paper, and if GM is used to open GM files, the GM logo will appear on a piece of Windows paper.

I think the file extension text becomes blurred and is too small to read.

I also agree that the text could be a bit bigger. I am sure you can have different icons for different sizes in an .ico file, so in smaller sizes you could make the letters cover more of the icon. But look good actually.

I made an EGM one with readable text on all sizes except 16*16, which would be a bit difficult.

It's kind of unnecessary to put the file extension on the icon.  There should be one for EGM and one for GM.  Not one for EGM, one for GM5, one for GM6, one for GM7, and one for GM8.  If people want to know the extension, they can read the file name.  If they've set Windows to hide file extensions, chances are that they really don't care about anything other than the fact that it's a GM project.

@RetroX - Not necessarily true. Even people who have windows hiding their file extensions(which is the windows **DEFAULT**, and some people may not even know they can change that) may care. For instance, Office users often care about DOC and DOCX not for very technical reasons, but for the simple fact that older offices can't open DOCX.
Similarly, GM users may care about which GMs can open a given file.

Yes, but then, you get to technical issues such as the fact that GM8 GMKs don't open in GM7.  It's better to have icons that say GM5, GM6, GM7, and GM8, because those are far more descriptive to the average user than GMD, GM6, GMK, and GM81.  To the average user, "GM81" means "GM version 81", which doesn't make any sense.  For GMK, make it say GM7/8 to differentiate.

@RetroX - True, but you argued against having any GM version differentiation on the icon AT ALL.
And yes, I agree that "GM 8.1" is more descriptive than "GM81".
